What Blogging Site Can I Start A Blog And Actually Get Viewers Or Subscribers?

I am trying to find a good blogging site where I can actually get viewers or readers to view my blog. I have tried blogspot and live journal with no real success. Does anyone know of any good sites where I can actually blog and get readers?
Another thing is any tips to get readers to your blogs? Should you follow a theme or how do you need to advertise or if you keep posting will they come to you?

Blogging?!?

I am wanting to blog over the internet but still with some privacy. For instance, i can place MySpace private. I am looking for a website of blogging. I only know Xanga, but i do not know how well it works. I only like to shar e my blogs with friends. What are other blog sites i can try?
Also, i am looking for a nickname. My name is Sophia Mo. I am a firm believer in Jesus Christ. Anything that sounds ordinary. Please. I like to place God’s Hand Maiden, but i like to hear your advise too.
